About this page

This page is auto-generated from src-astro/data/sourced-stats.json. Each entry names the publisher, links the primary-source URL, and records the date of publication and the date we last verified the figure against that source. The list updates automatically whenever the registry changes.

We use this registry for two reasons. First, it forces every quantitative statement on the site to trace back to a primary publisher (Inland Revenue, the Financial Markets Authority, the Reserve Bank, Toka Tū Ake, Kāinga Ora, and so on) rather than to a marketing claim or an industry summary. Second, it gives readers a single place to audit our numbers — if a figure looks off you can click straight through to the publishing organisation and read it yourself. For methodology — how we source, verify and update these figures — see /methodology.

Some MoneyGuru pages also include illustrative figures such as typical premium ranges, worked loan repayment examples or scenario calculations. These are not sourced statistics about the real world — they are educational examples and are clearly framed as such. If a number is presented as a fact about New Zealand consumers, lenders, insurers or the regulatory environment, it should appear in the table below. If you spot a factual claim that does not, please email us via the contact page.

Our freshness rule is 36 months. If a source publication has not been updated within that window we either find a more recent source or remove the claim from the site. Build of the site fails if any stat referenced in code is older than 36 months, so this is enforced in the toolchain rather than by manual diligence alone.

  • first-home-grant-discontinued: The First Home Grant was discontinued by the Government on 22 May 2024. No new applications are accepted. Any page on MoneyGuru that previously referenced grant dollar amounts should be rewritten to state the discontinuation; KiwiSaver First Home Withdrawal remains available and is a separate scheme.
